This is a reference to the real life wildlife expert, Steve Irwin aka the Crocodile Hunter, who was killed by a stingray in 2006. When a civilian is calling 9-1-1 on Marcus, if he goes up to them and snatches their phone away, it's possible to use the camera to zoom in really closely on the phone, and see that it has the same layout as Aiden Pearce's phone from Watch Dogs, including the Progression app, Skills Tree, Car on Demand, Fixer Contracts, the DedSec Field Guide, Digital Trips, NVZN, Cash Run, Challenges, Media App, SongSneak, City Hotspots and Leaderboards.ĭuring the mission Haum Sweet Haum, as DedSec drives to Sutro Tower, Wrench claims that he doesn't want to swim with stingrays because it "killed the Crocodile Hunter", and Sitara agrees. He then goes to the guard and defeats him, taking the baton and phone with him before starting a miniature blackout to cover his escape. Aiden sees the distracted guard, then glances at the cell camera. Marcus Holloway, who was also investigating the trafficking ring, breaks into where they're holding him and hacks Aiden's phone, which was in possession of a guard (along with his Baton). He arrives in San Francisco to shut down a human trafficking ring run by the Auntie Shu Gang and Bratva, however he was captured by the Bratva. The Security Robots that are patrolling the house are named after the ghosts from Pac-Man: Pinky, Blinky, Inky, and Clyde.Īiden can be seen in a side mission in Watch Dogs 2. In the mission Haum Sweet Haum, Marcus breaks into a sample smart house owned by Haum Electronics. Felix Leiter is a character from the James Bond franchise, being Bond's CIA counterpart. In the mission Limp Nudle, Marcus may speak to a Nudle employee on the first floor and ask them about Brody Goodale's harassment of Horatio. Additionally, this could be a reference to Alfred Nobel, as his nickname was 'The Merchant Of Death'. MacHale's "Pendragon" series, The Merchant of Death. While introducing Marcus to the 3D Printer, Wrench calls it a "Hipster Merchant of Death." This is a reference to the first book in D.J. Alternatively, it could just be a fake teaser to lead gamers on in an age where stuff like this is prime bait for going viral. The film CyberDriver and the CHP-AAD car featured in it are based on the 1982 television show Knight Rider. Despite the criticisms tossed their way, Ubisoft is one of the few AAA companies to frequently try new things. The company is one of the few who experiments by stepping outside the box often, so it's not an impossibility. It could very well be a new game that Ubisoft is working on, whether that be Beyond Good & Evil 2 or an all new IP. Also, a bunch of people might actually take up interest in Watch Dogs 2 just to see the teaser trailer for themselves, potentially driving sales for the game ahead of its release tomorrow. I admit, it would be a heck of a lot of work and man hours just for a trolling tease, but at the same time, it would also generate tons of talk and hype within the community based on something that may not even exist. there's always the flip side to the situation: what if Ubisoft put together this cinematic teaser, designed space assets, setup a character model in a space suit and did both exterior and interior designs of the ship, as well as setup the destroyed stations within the debris field just to troll people? The music was what drew a lot of gamers to that conclusion. There's also a surprising amount of comments about Cowbow Bebop.
